DGT Bluetooth e-board software upgrades

On July 20th we have released a new version (1.21) of the firmware of the Bluetooth board. It is very important to update your firmware to this version, because it solves many problems that the boards had in the past, including wrong recognition of the chess pieces.

It also solved the problem of sliding pieces being recognized on intermediate squares.

You can find it on our Bluetooth download pages including the tools and manuals to update.

Please check your version first with the DGT BoardTester. If you have a version number lower than 1.06 then upgrade to 1.06 first before upgrading to 2.01.

Improvements in version 2.01 firmware

- Fixed bugs causing inaccurate battery level tracking;
- Battery monitoring keeps track fairly accurate now;
- Fixed bug that prevented downgrading back to 1.06.

Improvements in version 2.00 firmware

A new firmware file is available. This version (1.06) solves some power issues.

The LED behaviour is more intuitive. When the battery is being charged and the board is switched off, the LED will show short flashes: Red: battery very low, charging or charging failure, Orange; normal charging, Green: battery fully charged.

Before you flash this file to your board you should have version 1.05 installed. The version number is diplayed in the driver window. (DGT BoardTester - Settings... - Connect Tab)

Version 1.05 can only be flashed using Windows XP; an update from 1.05 to 1.06 will be possible in any Windows OS.

Please download the latest driver too.

Important:

To update to this firmware 1.06 your board should have version 1.05 installed. When you flash 1.06 to an earlier version than 1.05, the board will not respond anymore and has to be returned to a RepairLab.

When you upgraded your firmware, and plug in the USB cable, windows will find new Hardware.

Unpack this zip file to a location you can remember, and browse to this location when when windows asks you to find the driver.

In the new setup manual this procedure is described in more detail.

Read this manual carefully before using the Bluetooth firmware uploader.

If you have to upload two files, then use the file wiht the name "BTUserPars.hex" first before uploading the main file.

This application can be used to upload the firmware of the Bluetooth Board.
